Uploading Fuel Pricing
Learn how to upload and manage contracted fuel pricing for your fleet
Uploading Fuel Pricing
Accurate fuel pricing data is essential for Drafft to generate precise fuel recommendations. This guide walks you through uploading your fleet's contracted fuel pricing information.
Why Fuel Pricing Matters
Drafft uses your contracted fuel prices to:
- Calculate savings for each recommended fuel stop
- Identify the best fuel locations along your routes
- Avoid recommending expensive fuel stations
- Provide accurate cost projections for your fuel spend
Preparing Your Pricing File
Drafft accepts fuel pricing in CSV or Excel format. Your file should include:
| Column | Format | Example | |--------|--------|---------| | Network | Text | "Love's", "Pilot Flying J", "TA/Petro" | | Location Code | Text | "A123", "LOV-456" | | City | Text | "Denver", "Las Vegas" | | State | Text | "CO", "NV" | | Diesel Price | Decimal ($/gal) | "3.45" | | Price Date | YYYY-MM-DD | "2024-01-15" |
Optional columns:
- Ethanol Price (if applicable to your fleet)
- DEF Price (Diesel Exhaust Fluid)
Uploading Your File

After Upload
Once uploaded, Drafft will:
- Validate all pricing entries
- Match locations to fuel networks
- Calculate distance-based detours for each recommendation
- Generate optimized fuel stop suggestions within 24 hours
Updating Pricing
Fuel prices change regularly. To keep recommendations accurate:
- Monthly Updates: Upload fresh pricing files at least monthly
- Quarterly Reviews: Reassess your fuel contracts and update rates
- Real-time Adjustments: If market conditions shift dramatically, upload an updated file immediately
Best Practices
- Be Precise: Include all contracted locations your drivers visit
- Current Data: Always upload the most recent contracted rates
- Consistent Naming: Use the same network and location names each upload
- Validate Locations: Double-check that city and state combinations are correct
- Watch the Dashboard: Monitor recommended stops to ensure pricing makes sense
Troubleshooting
"Invalid file format" error:
- Ensure your file is CSV or Excel (.xlsx, .xls)
- Check that column headers match Drafft's expected format
- Verify all prices are numeric values without currency symbols
Recommendations don't reflect new pricing:
- Fuel recommendations update within 24 hours of upload
- Clear your browser cache to see updated recommendations
- Check that location names match exactly between your file and route stops
Missing locations:
- Verify the city and state spelling exactly
- Ensure network names match Drafft's list (Love's, Pilot Flying J, etc.)
- Contact support if certain locations aren't being matched
